Word around here is that outlaws used the cavernous passageways in Colassal Cave and secret exits to hide their hidden treasure and escape from the Sheriffs in the 1880s. Get this, rumor has it that the outlaws left their treasure behind!
Take one of the tours offered daily and year-round to look for the treasure yourself. Appointments are not offered, but the short wait for the next tour, no longer than 30 min, is a perfect time to look around their gift shop.
The dry cave has 61/2 levels of beautiful cave formations and stays around the comfortable temperature of 70 degrees. Great for a summer things to do in Tucson since the caves are nice and cool.
If you’re still ready for more fun afterword's, you can’t pass up the camp sites, butterfly gardens, horseback riding, a desert tortoise exhibit, and more!
